Staycation 2012

What are our plans for this summer (other than sell a house, build a house and move)? Stay home and save money! We have all sorts of fees and expenses staring us in the face right now. That means we aren't going anywhere this summer. It doesn't mean that we don't plan on having some fun though! Here are some things we're thinking of doing with our kids.

  • Day Trip to "the lake" (my kids LOVE sand)
  • Picnic in the backyard
  • Fly a Kite
  • Park Tour (Try out the different parks in our city)
  • Swimming
  • Finger Painting
  • Bake Cookies
  • Visit the Zoo
  • Make Popsicles
  • Build a Fort in the Basement and Camp Out
  • Go Canoeing
  • Blow Bubbles
  • Roast Marshmallows
  • Ride Horses
  • Visit the Science Centre (they may be too young for this)
  • Build a "bug house" and collect some little critters
  • Visit a farm
  • Press flowers
  • Visit Family
  • Play Dates

Disneyland will have to wait but the fun won't!

What are your summer plans? Anybody else staycationing?

  1. We are staycationing as well!
A few things on our to do list are:
-Day trips to the lake (we should meet up!)
    -Planting and tending our garden
    -Berry picking
    -Spray parks
-A light load of school - reading, writing, and 'rithmatic :)
Oh yeah, and we are going to be hatching butterfly larvae soon, which totally freaks me out. I am not a bug person, but homeschooling has a way of pushing me out of my comfort zone!
