The Only Drawback to a Gallery Wall

All the holes it leaves in your walls!

Just call me the "polly-filla". O.k. that was lame, but I'm high on paint fumes from patching all the holes in our walls. My new resolution: Don't be so quick to put holes in walls and measure twice!

Carry on.

Roses, China & Fireplace

Hello, friends. I hope this finds you well. This is moving week for us so we're busy busy. My house is rather bare right now with most things packed away, so I'm thankful for these gorgeous birthday roses my parents sent me. I did have to stick them in a drinking glass because the vases were packed away, but it's nice to have fresh flowers around in the sea of cardboard boxes and packing tape.

Another very special birthday gift I received was my husband's grandmother's china. What a treat! Most everyone else in the family already had china (and in some cases several sets of china), so we got it. The pattern is Chelsea Garden by Spode. It's really beautiful. We'll display it in our glass front cabinets once we move. Right now it's packed away in boxes of course. This will give you an idea of what it's like. I love the colours.

We saw the new house again yesterday. It's 99% done and we're thrilled with how it looks. Check out the mirror above the fireplace. Pure awesome!

The tile still hasn't been installed around the fireplace but that will get done. They actually had to order more tile, so it won't go up until after we move in. SO delighted with the mirror though.

You likely won't hear from me as often this week. I have much to do. Wish me luck and thanks for sticking with me!

30 Things Before 30

Hello, friends, and happy Friday! It's an extra-happy Friday for me because today I turn 29. I suppose I'm not entirely happy to be peeking at 30 just around the corner, but I have much to be thankful for. All in all it's a good day and a happy one.

30 seems all grown up and gives me a slight panic feeling, but I'm still just 29, right! Nonetheless, here are 30 things I want to do before I actually get to 30. Some serious, some not so much and in no particular order.

Improve my painting skills
Learn how to use photoshop
Bake a super delicious cake from scratch
Read 30 books
Make a baby
Get a bikini body (even though I won't be wearing a bikini) *This will have to happen before that baby gets made*
Use less paper towel
Plant a garden
Wear coloured jeans (I realize I'm way behind)
Wear yellow
Grow my hair to the mammaries
Buy a leather purse
Spend less on groceries
Call/Visit an old friend
30 Random Acts of Kindness
Eat vegan for 30 days
Build a fort with my kids
Sleep under the stars
Say "I love you" more
Learn II Movement of Chopin Piano Concerto in E- (It's beautiful!)
Pout less, Smile and Laugh More
Learn to cook roast beef and Yorkshire pudding
Write a song for my kids
Read poetry
Roadtrip with my man
Teach my eldest to read
Write some old-fashioned letters
Learn to bake bread
Get to know my neighbours
Take better pictures

I'd say I have my work cut out for me! Thanks for letting me share this with you. I'm more likely to carry through on these things if I "go public" with them. It's the whole accountability, keeping your word sort of thing. Last year as a twenty-something here I come!

A New Build Peek & A Little Life

Hello and how are you? Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. We ended up taking a day trip to visit my Grandma who will be 97 next month. She still lives on her own and treated us to a delicious lunch complete with tea and cookies.

It was lovely to see her but we did spend 4 hours in the car and the 3 year old puked twice on the way home. Yuck. She was sick another four times before settling down to sleep for the night. It was a messy evening. Thankfully she seems fine today and is keeping her food down so far. Sheesh! So, it was a full day that was both wondrous and awful at the same time. It's also hitting me hard that we're moving next week so the boxes need to be filled.

I'll leave you with a little peek at our new build which is near done.

SO excited but for now I'm off to do some more packing. Catch you later!

The Soft Blouse

Soft blouses. I can't seem to get enough of them these days. They're pretty whether they come in pastels, florals, dots, or neutrals. Details like studded collars or tie-fronts make them extra special.

This floral, tie-front option is surprisingly pretty at Old Navy and quite affordable.

A blouse is such a classic piece and these soft styles are perfectly feminine. Hoping to add one to my closet this fall.

For now I must get back to real life. My husband is under the weather, the fridge is near empty and the house needs a good clean. Catch you later!

Baby Spaces

Check out this stunning nursery by Meg Lonergan of LeSueur Interiors. The warm, rich tones are super good, and that's coming from a white freak. It's such a cozy space with lots of character and charm. I love how it's not too baby-ish and could easily be used by either a girl or boy. Navy walls, pink persian rug, antique bamboo armoire - it's all SO good.

Here are a few other nurseries that have caught my eye lately.

O.k. maybe I am ready for that third baby.

Some Friday Randoms

The only draw back to having chandeliers in your home is this.

Having to dust a billion little crystals. I ended up taking all the crystals off the fixture since many of them had already fallen off during the trip home (this is the antique chandelier we purchased second hand). Four hours later, I finally had all the itty bitty crystals sparkling. There is no way I'm putting them back on until the construction is done at our new build. So, the chandelier looks like this now.

Rather naked looking but you can imagine how gorgeous it's going to be when we get the billion crystals back on there (after the dust has all settled of course).

Exterior stone is up.

Tile for around the fireplace.

(Sorry for the poor iphone pictures.)

And to leave you with some gorgeousity, here are my top pins for the week.

If you're on pinterest you can find me here, or if you'd like an invite, let me know. E-mail me at

Have a fabulous weekend, friends!

Designer: Greg Natale

I recently came across the work of Sydney based architect and designer Greg Natale. His designs are absolutely stunning! Nancy just featured his work on her blog so then I wasn't going to, but there's so much to share; he has a very impressive and extensive portfolio. I couldn't pass it up. A lot of his work is very contemporary, but he's also done some more traditional projects; these are the ones I'm most drawn to.

Here are a few of my favourites (it was so hard to choose).

There is SO much more to see at his portfolio. It's no wonder he's recognized as one of Australia's top designers. Hands down I'm adding him to my list of favourite designers. I've actually featured a few of his designs on my blog in the past, without know who was responsible for them.

You my remember this out-of-this-world bathroom I shared on my facebook page a while back. He's da man.

I'm so glad to have discovered Mr. Natale and his fabulous work.
